Red Sox vs Angels- MLB Advice From The Shirts And Skins

Shirts and Skins

Red Sox vs. Angels

Q: Both teams have similar records, but which is the better team?

Melissa - Umm, it's a little too close for me to call. I mean, both teams lead their divisions with sweet records and both teams seem to be good every year. To me, it comes down to the better-looking team. Boston has that rugged, five-o'clock shadow look going - let's go with them.

Jimmy - I think when you look at the records for both teams and see them both at the top of their divisions, a strong case can be made for either team.
I'm going to lean towards Boston, simply because they play in the toughest division in baseball and they are the defending world champions.

Q: Which player is going to have a big series?

Melissa - Torii Hunter is my pick. He loves the spotlight and the big stage. And there isn't a bigger stage than when Boston comes to town. I think he is going to have a wicked, awesome series.

Jimmy - Dustin Pedroia is my pick. This kid has been one of the hottest hitters in the Show over the past the month and he just seems to keep getting better and better.

Q: Who needs to win this game more?

Melissa - Boston totally does. For one thing, it would be a shame to travel all the way to L.A. just to lose. Not to mention, they don't want those pesky Devil Rays, oops, "Rays," to make up any ground on them in the standings.

Jimmy - Boston needs this game more. The Angels are six games up on the second place Oakland Athletics in the AL West, while the Red Sox are only half a game up on the Rays in the AL East. Boston would surely like to put as much space as possible between them and a dangerous Rays team.

Q: Who does this pitching matchup favor?

Melissa - Let's see, Jon Garland vs. Josh Beckett... I'm going to take Josh Beckett. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, not because I like his soul patch, but because he's one heck of a good pitcher and he seems to pitch best when it means the most.

Jimmy - I am going to say that this pitching matchup is going to go the Angels' way. No question Josh Beckett is one of the best pitchers in the Show, but Jon Garland is pitching at home and he's no slouch either. Garland won a World Series with the White Sox in 2005 and has been pitching great for the Angels this year.

 Q: Who wins this game?

Melissa - Boston wins this game, and they do it with lots of hitting and shutout pitching from Mr. "Soul Patch."

Jimmy - I think the Angels have a good chance to win this game. I think Garland will be on his game, and if he can get the Angels deep into the ball game, they'll be in good shape because their bullpen has been stingy this year. Once K-Rod, the league-leading closer, gets into the game, it's usually lights out. I expect this game to be a close one but I'm giving the edge to the Angels.
